Central Philippine University congratulates its three new Centralian Mechanical Engineers who successfully passed the February 2018 Mechanical Engineer Board Exam.
According to the Professional Regulation Commission, 933 out of 1,983 examinees passed the Mechanical Engineer Board Exam.
CPU got a passing percentage of 100% in the said examination.

Excellence in leadership and community service—Jan Christian Española, John Elmer Loretizo, and Charles Arthel Rey were chosen as part of the Top 10 Regional Awardees from the Western Visayas Region in the prestigious 57th search of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines. They have qualified in the next round and will have the chance to be chosen to be among the top Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines.
Española is a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy graduate and a former CPU Republic President; Loretizo, on the other hand, is a graduate of Software Engineering, a Jose Rizal Model Student, and winner of National Geographic’s “Everyday Genius” while Rey is a graduate of Chemical Engineering, an Ayala Young Leader, and a former CPU Prime Minister.
Twenty students, who excel in leadership and community service, from all over Western Visayas were selected by TOSP to participate in a leadership camp. Among the finalists, ten were chosen to represent Western Visayas in the TOSP National Level.
It can be recalled that Riego Garcia Ferrer, an Agricultural Engineering graduate and former CPU Prime Minister, was named as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines at the Heroes Hall of Malcañang Palace, Manila on February 9, 2017.
Faith, honor and excellence—Nestle Taala, a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication senior from the College of Arts and Science, John Elmer Loretizo, 5th year Bachelor of Science Software Engineering from the College of Engineering, and Meliza Louise Javellana and Honey Parreño from the University Junior High School were hailed as TOSIA awardees during the Ten Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awarding Ceremonies held at Robinson’s Place Iloilo on March 18, 2018.
CPU Junior High School TOSIA finalist, Meliza Louise Javellana, was awarded as TOSIA Artisan for exemplifying creativity in her bid book submission.
They passed the preliminary screening of this year’s search for the Ten Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards spearheaded by JCI Regatta. The stages of the competition include The Stopover: Preparation, Starting Up The Engine: The Road to Excellence, a leadership seminar, The Checkpoint, Nomination and Portfolio Screening, TOSIA Roadblock: Essay Writing Round and The Detour: Interview Round, The Pit Stop: TOSIA Bootcamp and lastly The Finish Line: Awarding Ceremonies.
TOSIA 2018 aims to recognize student leaders who excel in academic, community, leadership and faith—four pillars in creating positive change. The annual search for outstanding is held in partnership with Department of Education Iloilo and Iloilo City Divisions and the Commission on Higher Education Region 6.
